Get back to your roots this Earth Day with a visit to Rock Ledge Ranch. This historic site nestled into the Garden of the Gods is offering free entry one day this month, so you might be inspired by a simpler, more eco-friendly way of living.
Rock Ledge Ranch is a living history museum located on 230 acres at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. Historical interpreters, dressed in period clothing appropriate to the time and place, offer tours, demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities for children and adults alike. By moving from building to building, you’ll get to experience the daily lives of the people who lived, worked, hunted, herded, and raised families on the land under your feet. On April 16th, from 10-2, your entry is free. So why not stop by the blacksmith shop to watch him or her test the mettle, and pop into the General Store for a hand-made treat or buy some old-fashioned provisions? Pack a picnic, if you’d prefer, and take a moment to absorb what you’ve learned. For more information about the Ranch and any of its special events, check out its website.
